Unfortunately, it's easy to be misled by search engines on the internet, but if you follow these steps - you're good to go!I generally recommend evaluating studios based on several key factors:When you've chosen a style or have an idea for your next (or first tattoo), look at different tattoo artists in the area. Review the artist's portfolio to assess their style, skill level and creativity. Make sure their work aligns with your vision!Verify the studio have hygiene standards and certifications to guarantee compliance with health regulations. (In Denmark, many tattoo artists can be looked up on Tattoohygiejne)

-- -- If a studio only shows up with 1 tattoo artist, but has several in the studio - they're not complying with the law. Stay away from those.

The average cost of a tattoo varies widely depending on several key factors, including the tattoo's size, complexity, the artist's experience, location, and the time required to complete the work. Unfortunately - there's no fixed price list for tattoos - but remember this: If you think a tattoo is expensive : You don't only pay for the tattoo itself, but also for the artist's experience, their educational level, time, materials, studio percentage, custom design, complexity, location on the body, colour usage and more. DISCLAIMER: The following pricing are what I have observed in my years - and is not a set average pricing list.By experience you can follow these price margins (Denmark) : Apprentice / Junior artist (1 - 3 years) : 400 - 600 kr. per hour.Experienced artists (5+ years) : 700 - 1200 kr. or more per hour.By tattoo size and cost : Tiny tattoos* (often walk-in tattoos) - up to 5 cm : 400 - 900 kr. Not every design and placement are alike. Placement affects pricing, since some areas are harder to tattoo than others. Some areas are more sensitive, where your pain tolerance will decide whether you can take it or not - and other areas are like tough hides. The complexity is whether it's a simpler black-line tattoo, which costs less, or a detailed or multi-coloured  design which demands more time, experience and effort to execute. Simple designs : Lower cost and takes often less time. Custom, detailed or coloured design : Takes more time and therefore has a higher cost. Sensitive areas (Ribs, armpits, knee ditch, stomach, scarred areas, etc.) : Costs slightly more due to difficulty. How to prepare the skin before a tattoo appointment?

It's very important to prepare your skin for the session properly as it is quite critical for optimal results. You should start by moisturising the area to be tattooed for at least a week leading up to the session, using fragrance-free, gentle lotions to keep the skin hydrated and supple. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds to prevent any irritation or damage, as well as shaving the area the day before the session. (You can skip shaving the area, as most tattoo artists shaves the area regardless.)It's essential to stay well-hydrated and avoid alcohol for up to a week before the session. I personally recommend 2 weeks, since I've seen some clients with pretty bad alcohol tolerance and their body was firstly optimal for tattooing 1½ weeks after their last night-out.Remember to eat well as your body will use much energy during the session despite sitting still.I can promise you - if you don't eat, you have a higher chance of fainting.

Can you explain your sterilization process for equipment?I use disposable single-use needles only. After every usage of a needle, it'll go straight to a secured container that safely gets disposed of when 85% full. Remember - there's a hug difference between sterilization, sanitizing and disinfection. What kind of ink do you use, and is it vegan/animal cruelty-free?I use different types of brands for their pigment compositions. World Famous Tattoo Ink and Eclipse Tattoo Ink are both vegan and animal cruelty-free. It has not been tested on animals. Do you use disposable needles and tubes for each client?As mentioned - I only use single-use / disposable needles. Since I use a two specific types of rotary machines, I don't need tubes. What measures are in place to prevent cross-contamination?I have strict rules regarding cleanliness both pre-session, during and post-session. Clients are instructed where they can put their things, no shoes in the shop - we got a small wardrobe for that, workstation gets cleaned and prepared before the start of the session and split apart after the session for proper cleaning. No session will be complete without switching gloves relentlessly - and I don't wear rings or any accessory on my hands or arms during the session. Are you licensed, and is the shop up to health department standards?Licensed and registered in the Danish Safety Technology Authority registry.(TATO-89640)When registered in the registry - you are sure as a client the tattoo artist adhere to the rules of the National Board of Health and The Danish Patient Safety Authority as well. Can I inspect the work area before starting the tattoo session?The work area is visible and will be clean before the session begins. If you're unsure about the cleanliness of the area, you're more than welcome to observe how it's cleaned and prepared. Just ask first. Do you provide a new set of gloves for each client?If you ever encounter a tattoo artist now switching gloves (and that includes when they touched their phone or tablet) - you need to get the fuck out of there. It's a ritual to switch gloves to ensure the cleanliness of every touched area and prevent cross termination. What type of ointment or barrier cream do you use during the tattooing process?I use vaseline - but if you're allergic - I will have alternatives in stock. How often is the shop cleaned and sanitized?The workstations are cleaned and sanitized every day - and the shop gets a thorough cleaning at least twice a week. If the week is fully booked - you can expect the shop being cleaned even more often to ensure your safety.Have you received training in bloodborne pathogen handling?Yes. It's mandatory by law to get specialized training for tattoo artists to prevent infections during sessions. I aim to get my knowledge updated at least every 2-3 years with supplementary training. Do you have a first aid kit and an AED available on-site?There is an AED nearby within less than 100-meters and I am CPR-trained. We have first-aid measures present if needed. What is the protocol if a client feels unwell during the session?If you feel unwell during the session, we will take a break to access whether or not if we can continue. Some gets a bit nauseaus for a few minutes, but feel good enough after the nausea fades to continue the session. If the nausea does not fade within 30 minutes, I normally push for a reschedule. If you are feeling sick before leaving your home - I strongly recommend you to call in sick and we will find another day for you. Unfortunately in these conditions, you will have to set another 500 kr. for the rescheduling since it's past the 72 hour deadline before the session. In case of an accidental needlestick or cut, what is your protocol to handle the situation?Haven't happened - but if it ever happens, the session will be stopped to access the damage. If the damage is harsh enough (broken the skin of the artist), then the session will be stopped and aid called for. If the skin hasn't been broken, I will trash the gloves and contaminated needle for new ones and clean the tattoo.If a cut has happened - the session needs to be postponed, since we aren't allowed to tattoo if we have wounds on our arms and hands. Do you have any age restrictions or parental consent requirements for tattoos?No minor will be tattooed here - not even with parental consent as it is against the law. So if you're under the age of 18 - I will not be the tattoo artist for you. How do you ensure the safety of clients with allergies or sensitivities?Every client received a consent form that explains the risks of a tattoo - and therefore they need to sign off knowing these risks exists. How long have I been a tattoo artist?I started my early apprenticeship research phase in the early 2017 and started my professional career in 2021. Can you walk me through the typical healing timeline for a tattoo?A tattoo usually heals in stages, and everyone’s skin is a little different:First 1–3 days: The tattoo may feel warm, tender, swollen, or similar to a mild sunburn. A small amount of redness, clear fluid, plasma, or ink leakage can be normal.Days 4–14: The area may become dry, itchy, flaky, or lightly scabbed. This is a normal part of healing—avoid scratching, picking, or peeling it.Weeks 2–4: Flaking and itching should gradually settle. How far in advance do I need to book an appointment?When bookings are open you can dips it. Normally if there's less than a week to an opening, it'll be marked as a day off for me, unless you're up for a flash or 'want to do' designs. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?Please cancel or reschedule as early as possible and at least 72 hours before your appointment. So whether you've gotten a rough idea, an AI generated idea or other - bring it to me and I will advice you on what is possible and not possible - based on my experience and skills. How do we determine the right size and placement for my tattoo?Based on the designs level of detail, colours and much more - I can determine what the right size I'd recommend you in order to get the design and maintaining the designs beauty and integrity over the years. Can you help me modify an existing design or flash to make it unique?If you find an existing design or flash you wish to modify - please go to the original artist and comission them to help on your request. How detailed can my tattoo be?It strongly depends on the style, size and complexity. What are the limitations when it comes to tattooing certain body parts?In Denmark it's illegal to tattoo on the face, hands and neck. Apart from that - I reject any tattoo projects in the intimate area. How will the design age over time?All tattoos can change gradually as the skin ages.
